The project involves permanent metal roofing and membrane gutter repair on various roofs for Sylvia Park Shopping Centre.

Canam was the selected contractor to carry out this roof remedial works in six stages. The existing membrane is a bitumen membrane. These membranes have very strong adhesion to the substrate and cannot practically be removed. Nuratech TPE is compatible with the existing bitumen membranes and can be readily installed over the current membrane. Also the existing gutter pitch may be as low as 1:200 in some areas, the new membrane is impervious to water and the lap joints are completely welded to form one continuous sheet of product.

For metal roofing, Canam laid new roofing sheets, ply substrate and installed new colour matched metal roofing sheets over the damaged areas. New fixings have installed to ensure water tightness.

Canam engaged nominated registered Electrician and Mechanical contractor to disconnect live equipment before roof remedial work commences and re-connect equipment as each section of the roof is completed.

The shopping centre remains open for normal trading hours during remedial works. Canam installed temporary protections as necessary to ensure public safety at all time. Canam planed this project thoughtfully to eliminate any damage to the existing tenancies under the roof. During remediation work, the exposed working area was covered with waterproof tarpaulins at every day’s work end and secured against bad weather.

During the construction period, Canam worked closely with the client, reported any need for re-fixing of the existing materials which are found to be loose, unfixed or otherwise unsafe and provided cost effective solutions.
