Southern Cross Sky Barrell

This contract involved the complete replacement of the existing sky barrell which was old and leaking. A scaffold was erected internally along the sides of the corridor, roughly two storeys high with a working platform on top. This meant the corridor could still be used by staff and patients and was still wide enough to wheel a bed down.

A scaffold was also erected externally with a staircase and ramp leading to the roof, and a full working platform around the perimeter of the barrell.

As each section of the existing barrell was removed, extensive weather protection was put in place. The new barrell was then installed in stages and glazed as each section was installed.

This project was completed early and incident free. The client was extremely pleased with the finished product.
