The Papakura City Council selected Canam to construct the new Massey Park Aquatic Centre in a competition among five contractors.

The basis was time, quality, schedule of rates, P&G costs and margin. A Guaranteed Maximum Price incorporating profit sharing was subsequently agreed.

The project consists of a 25m eight lane competition pool, toddler pool, leisure pool, hydroslide, steam rooms, sauna, changing facilities, poolside recreation areas, swimwear shop and a café.

The leisure pool incorporated a “lazy river” with curved reinforced concrete walls, a wave machine and swirl pools were also provided. A ‘jungle theme’ was created for the leisure pool, utilising palm trees, wild vegetation, rocks, artwork, casual finishings, and parasols.

“Canam’s performance was above redemption with the project being completed on time and within budget.”
