This refurbishment to the Inland Revenue Building in Takapuna was procured through a competitive tender.

The scope of works involved refurbishing 11 floors of the occupied building, with an allowance of 21 days per floor. This time frame included the movements of Inland Revenue staff both out of the floor plate and back in once completed, with strictly no room for time extensions. The first two floors were constructed concurrently with one floor housing the common kitchen and cafeteria with meeting rooms, and the other being offices.

Each floor plate was demolished by about 75% and reconfigured to suit the new layout, with Canam staff working around quiet spaces and occupied floors above and below.

The completed floor plates with kitchenettes provided Inland Revenue with fantastic open plan work areas, quiet spaces and meeting rooms.

The project team needed to undertake flawless programming to achieve a non negotiable duration provided by Inland Revenue. In order to complete this, demolition and the transfer of materials to and from the floor plates was undertaken outside of business hours.

It was a credit to the Canam Management who provided feedback on a daily basis to multiple stakeholders for reassurance that the daily running of their businesses would not affected by the construction.
