The project involved alterations to the corporate headquarters of HSBC. The scope of works included new finishes and additions to the CEO’s office, boardrooms and staff training rooms, all whilst the offices were in full operation.

The work was staged over 2 floors and separated into different areas creating a contract with many work faces, all at different stages. Accurate programming, some instances down to the hour, was required to enable the subcontractors to complete the works required for each specific stage. The tiling of the main entrance, new feature walls, glazed walls, operable walls, and wallpaper and finishes all had to be performed out of hours with a full clean each morning before the staff arrived.

A weekly impact report was produced for the client and the client’s representative, detailing the work to be done over the next period. This ensured disruption to the staff was minimised as impact reports gave the staff the option to plan around the building activities in advance.

With this level of ongoing planning, the contract continued smoothly and was completed on time and within budget.
