Tender Fixed Lump Sum
This was a fast track project; an internal fitout over two floors undertaken in a largely occupied space with a number of special structural and design features.
Canam successfully bid for this project in competitive tender and began working immediately with GHD on the staging and construction programme, enabling them to take occupation of as much of the space as early as possible. We also offered a number of alternatives and worked with the architect throughout the entire process on design solutions that met the budget and programme without compromising on the aesthetic vision.
During the peak of construction there were over 200 GHD staff also in operation, so careful management of noise, dust migration and importantly health & safety regulations were a priority for our site team. Daily coordination meetings and weekly PCG meetings ensured both the smooth running of the construction works, and very little disruption to GHD’s day to day operations.
In addition to the high quality partitioning, extensive joinery and services modifications, the design called for the installation of a new spiral staircase between levels 2 & 3, as well as an air-bridge across the atrium at Level 2. The steel staircase eventually weighed in at more than 3 ton requiring substantial structural steel support to the concrete floor below. All in all a hugely successful and interesting project.
