This project posed several challenges as it involved working airside at the Auckland Domestic Airport to construct a new boarding gate.

The Canam Health and Safety Plan needed to be modified to include the specific requirements of working airside and in close proximity with aircraft, and these changes needed to be strictly observed throughout the project as well. We were also required to operate within the strict security parameters set out by Auckland Airport.

The biggest challenge onsite was the connection and interface with the airbridge that attached to the side of our newly constructed boarding gate. A pro-active approach was needed to ensure the information for the connection requirements was provided on time.
From Aviation Security Services through to the architect, it was imperitive that the project work within the Aiports Contractor’s Guidelines; Canam successfully achieved all of the above.
