Canam Construction were procured on a negotiated fixed price contract basis to build a new winery facility situated on Waiheke Island with stunning views overlooking the bay to Motukaha Island.

Cable Bay Vineyards’ overall concept was to provide a unique vineyard complex for locals and visitors alike that offers not just fine dining, wine tasting, and seminar facilities but also the experience of witnessing the wine being produced within their production halls 4 metres below ground.

Due to the logistics of building offshore, the project was extremely challenging and extensive. Prior planning was the key in maintaining the overall progress of the project.

The co-ordination between the Christchurch based Architect and the Auckland based Interior Designer was also a challenging process but essential in achieving the common goals of the client and design team.

Although inspirational architecture was required in designing the structure to subtly blend into the surrounding countryside, a large proportion of the budget was allocated to the high level of internal finishes, including solid oak flooring, basalt stone walls, oak bars, and specialist cedar internal doors.
