This project had its fair share of complications, resulting from its extremely tight time-frame, a fully operational work environment and a constant stream of contract variations.
The design team presented a complex design concept, to accommodate that the facility was fully operational. A structural feat by any standard was the removal of the existing staircase to accommodate the new theatre boom and the supply and installation of a smaller staircase in it’s place. This work entailed major structural propping and concrete modifications. Co-ordinating and controlling works prior to their execution was vital as this generally involved the isolation of critical services needed for patients.
“Smart” building by our joinery division, and modifications to existing fittings resulted in reduced manufacturing time and a more cost effective contract.
Fitting out the specialised theatre and CSSD room was made easier with knowledge gained from past medical fit-out experience. Health and Safety, cleanliness and a level 5 finish was applied to every aspect of our building methodology. A “State of the Art” nurse-call system was installed in theatre 4, along with an upgrade of the fire and lighting design. The end product was delivered on time and within budget.
