Canam completed a number of contracts as part of the upgrade of the Auckland Museum.

The most significant contract was for the main seismic strengthening work, which involved construction of three storey concrete shear wall structures within the central light cells of the original Museum building.

The project featured exposed concrete walls, floor and feature columns. On completion it provided the areas for the new shop and cafeteria on the ground floor and four new gallery spaces on the upper floor.

Work was carried out whilst the Museum was opened to the public presenting Canam with additional logistical and safety challenges, all met with great success.
